| SUZAN-LORI PARKS COMES TO CHICAGO

What a fantastic weekend I just passed with the delightful, talented, witty and warm Suzan-Lori Parks. Longtime subscribers will remember we produced the Chicago premiere of her play IN THE BLOOD in 2003, and of course after that, she won the Pulitzer for TOPDOG/UNDERDOG. Currently, she's represented all over Chicagoland with her audacious new project, 365 DAYS/365 PLAYS (check them all out at www.365chicago.org).
Next Theatre honored this extraordinary artist at our annual Next Era Brunch (a special perk for our big donors, those who give at least $1000 a year), and she spoke eloquently about the creative spirit, and the celebration of artistry she's creating with the 365 project. I also moderated a discussion with her at a book signing in Hyde Park.
I tried to keep track of all the metaphors that spun from her incredibly fertile brain, but can't remember all of them. She's also an incredibly engaging storyteller, and inspiring to all who meet her. I continue to be incredibly proud that Next Theatre is playing such an important role in bringing her 365 PLAYS to life throughout Chicagoland.Labels: 365 Days/365 Plays
