| LOWBROW PICK OF THE WEEK - "SANJAYA MUST BE STOPPED"

I'll 'fess up - I'd never watched American Idol until I recently became obsessed by the show's latest drama, alternatively known as "the Sanjaya juggernaut", "Sanjaya-fied," and my favorite, "Sanjaya MUST BE STOPPED!"
Seems Sanjaya Malakar, a lanky Indian-American 17-year old with little talent but a great personality (and the world's most flexible hair), has managed to stay on the show for weeks longer than his singing voice deserves.
What's wonderful about the crisis is that many bloggers - especially conservative ones for some strange reason - are appalled at the idea that this year's American Idol might turn out to be a popularity contest instead of the meritocracy they seem to think it is! On the other side, there's even a wonderful website, votefortheworst.com, which is mounting a major campaign to get this hairball-goofball to win as a way of BRINGING DOWN AMERICAN IDOL... I didn't realize it could go any lower.
